Frequently asked questions

What causes corrosion?

Corrosion is primarily caused by environmental factors such as moisture, oxygen, and electrolytes that react with the metal surface. Common sources include exposure to saltwater, chemicals, and atmospheric conditions.

How does Denso prevent corrosion?

Denso offers a range of anti-corrosion products, including tapes, coatings, and wraps that provide effective barriers against environmental elements. These products are designed to be easy to apply and durable, ensuring long-term protection.

What types of products does Denso offer for corrosion protection?

Denso provides various products such as:
Densyl Tape: A petrolatum-based tape that offers a non-hardening, self-sealing protective barrier.
Densopol 60 HT: A bitumen compound laminated to PVC sheeting used for the protection and refurbishment of steel and ductile pipes, joints, tie rods, bends and fittings in tropical climates.
Densopol 80 HT: A synthetic fiber fabric impregnated and coated with polymer modified bitumen compound laminated to thick PVC sheeting used for the protection of buried or submarine pipes, welded joints, bends and fittings. The combination of PVC backing and fabric reinforced polymer bitumen compound makes it extremely resistant to damage by sharp objects e.g. poor backfill. It is suitable for application by hand or machine on medium to large diameter pipes.
Densoseal 16A: Densoseal 16A is a non setting, self supporting mastic which may be applied to wet surfaces and will seal ducts and conduits against ingress of gas and water. It complies with British Telecom Specification M212C. For sealing cable ducts, conduits and service entry pipes or sleeves particularly below ground level to prevent entry of gas or water into buildings. It may also be used for profiling mechanical joints on hot pipes to allow application of tapes.
Denysl Mastic: Specially recommended for duct sealing and around pipes and cables where they enter buildings to prevent the passage of water or gas. It is used for molding around irregular profiles such as flanges, mechanical joints and valves to provide a contour suitable for wrapping with anti-corrosion tapes, eg. Densyl Tape, Densopol and Densoclad.
Denso Paste: Used in conjunction with tapes for sealing and filling voids.
Denso tank base protection system: Solution to the unseen and hard to detect corrosion problem on aboveground tank bases.
Denso Seashield Systems: Designed for marine and offshore structures to protect against saltwater and harsh conditions.
Denso Protal Liquid Coatings: Epoxy coatings for pipeline and infrastructure protection.

How long do Denso corrosion protection products last?

The lifespan of Denso products depends on the specific product and application environment. Generally, they are designed to provide long-term protection, often exceeding 20 years with proper application and maintenance.

Are Denso products environmentally friendly?

Denso is committed to producing environmentally friendly solutions. Their products are formulated to be safe for the environment and comply with relevant environmental regulations. For example, Denso Tape is non-toxic and does not contain harmful VOCs.

Can Denso products be applied in extreme conditions?

Yes, Denso products are designed to perform in a variety of extreme conditions, including underwater, in high humidity, and in a wide range of temperatures. For example, Denso Marine Piling Tape is specifically designed for underwater use.

How should Denso products be applied?

Application procedures vary by product, but generally, surfaces should be clean and free of rust or scale. Denso Paste can be applied first to fill voids and provide a smooth surface. Then, Denso Tape or coatings are wrapped or brushed on, ensuring overlapping layers for full coverage.

Do Denso products require special storage?

Denso products should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keeping them in their original packaging until use helps maintain their efficacy.

What industries benefit most from Denso's corrosion protection solutions?

Industries such as oil and gas, marine, water and wastewater, and infrastructure benefit significantly from Denso’s corrosion protection solutions. These industries often face harsh environmental conditions where corrosion prevention is critical.

How does Denso ensure the quality of its products?

Denso adheres to stringent quality control measures, including rigorous testing and compliance with industry standards. This ensures their products perform reliably in the field.By addressing these common questions, Denso demonstrates its commitment to providing robust corrosion protection solutions tailored to various industry needs.
