Grease Separators at Dubai Hills Regional Mall

A retail, leisure and entertainment complex, the largest shopping center in the world in terms of total area (2.2 million sq ft. which equals to 42 football pitches). It’s operated by Emaar Malls. Project went into design in the year 2015 by M/s. Arcadis Middle East. We got involved with them in the year 2017 for the fully Automated Disposal Grease Separators of Kessel, Germany.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Main problem to solve was, to size separators without any initial data like

  • the kind of restaurants
  • no. of meals that will be prepared in a day
  • type of restaurants and most importantly
  • the no.of restaurants.

SOLUTION PROVIDED

With a team of well wishers for BMD from M/s. Arcadis, consisting of Theresa Ling, Daniela Popov, Heemlesh Heeramun, lead by the team leader Rajeev Bhargavan, over a period of 3 months, we assisted the MEP design team to size around 30 grease separators along the length and breadth of the mall.

Out of the 30 nos, an order of 27 nos was placed and supplied in Jan 2019. The flow rate totals to an unprecedented value of 262 l/s. All of grease separators were supplied with Sampling Chamber, Remote Control and Sonic Control. Installation has been completed in 8 locations.

CLIENT FEEDBACK

More retail space is going to be changed to F&B outlets and hence and the Consultant has informed us that we’ll be called again to size more Separators in the same project.
